About Me

I'm a proud cat mom, self-proclaimed houseplant expert, rooted in nature and powered by sunlight.

On a more professional note, I'm a registered Clinical Psychologist based in Sandton and online.

I'm dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. My approach to therapy is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and curiosity. I strive to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their inner worlds and to work toward meaningful, lasting change.

I tailor each therapeutic journey to the unique needs and goals of the individual, drawing from a range of approaches including psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and integrative frameworks. Together, we'll find the style and pace that works best for you.

About Me

At the heart of my work is the belief that within every experience of "disorder" or chaos lies a story, a pattern, and an opportunity for growth. I support clients in uncovering the underlying threads in their experiences, fostering greater self awareness and insight. With this deeper understanding, clients are better able to navigate challenges and cultivate emotional well-being. Therapy is collaborative and I am honored to walk alongside each person on their path toward healing and wholeness.

My Qualifications   & Experience

University

I obtained my BHSc, BHSc (Hons) Psychology, and MHSc in Clinical Psychology at the North-West University in Potchefstroom.

INTERNSHIP

I completed my internship at Tara The H. Moross Centre, a specialized psychiatric hospital in Sandton. My experience spanned adult and child psychiatric in-patient wards and out-patient departments, where I provided supervised individual and group therapy. I also performed diverse psychological assessments tailored to complex clinical presentations.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

I served my community service year at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, the third-largest hospital in the world. I provided individual and group therapy within the out-patient and in-patient department and conducted medical ward consultations for screenings and risk assessments. This role was vital to patient care from initial intake to discharge.

PRIVATE PRACTICE (PRESENT)

I established my private practice, Mariné Bierman Clinical Psychologist, in Sandton after completing my community service. Simultaneously, I work at the Netcare Akeso Centre of Psychotherapy Excellence (COPE) in Alberton. There, I provide group therapy for adult and adolescent in-patients across a broad range of mental health conditions.
